Isn't it interesting?

Ever had someone look at work from years prior and consider it amazing while you deem it trash? Then to look at the work done based solely on intuition, before you ever received instruction, and request it framed...

Odd how things work.

It seems I have developed an affinity for practicing martial arts that aren't ...well...artsy. They're incredibly boring to look at when performed. Like, Wing Chun. It's incredibly fun to do but oh so boring to look at. It's not pretty, not showy, not at all entertaining for the viewer.

There's one punch and two kicks. Other than that it's pretty straight forward. Not at all like Wushu or Tai Chi... even though Wing Chun has a greater history and was born from practicality. ::cough::

This really is an interesting scenario.

My medulla oblongata's too proper for drawing stupid
But embalming fluid life got drama to it
Unusual Pharmaceutical drip is a trip
If you have the patience
If you go nuts, dust is your travel agent
The bom bom monster of my genre
Swimming in purple rain minnetonka
My team will always work 'til you all are bonkers
Like Yonkers I got locks
All you need is J-style and lutes like Puff drives
For these bad boys to rough ride.
I'm not a novice, it's obvious recognition
If you can't stand the 1337 get out my kitchen
Consider me different, usual suspect for bussin new riddims
Look forward to what I do for biorhythms
Light darkens in an instant, off two point three seconds
Confessing that the blades at my waist ain't decoration
Approach with caution, the 1337 brother adequate habits forming
So cheers the star at the end of the ball like my name was Norman.

In your opinion, what does it take to be a good artist? Is it something decided by self or would one be constantly subjected to the whims of everyone else?
